AW Kelley's FAQ

I am a homeowner and would like to use your products. Can I make purchases from your nursery?
Sorry, we do not sell to the retail trade and are strictly wholesale. However, our material is available through your landscaper, lawn service, certain local garden centers and other horticultural professionals. If you need a landscaper please click the link “Preferred Landscapers” under Featured Pages on the Home Page to view the list.

As a homeowner, may I visit your nursery to see the plants and look around to get ideas?
Yes, but you must be accompanied by your landscaper or horticultural professional. We are happy to let you tour our 10 acre showplace grounds with the proper assistance. A.W.Kelley’s does not engage in the retail trade and you will be better served by your own professional.

Water restrictions have been a big issue the past few years. I am afraid if I put in new plants and trees they might die from a lack of water. What should I do?
New plants, trees, lawn sod and grass are allowed all the water they need for 60 days following installation (see “Homeowners-New Planting” in “Articles” Home page). Also, try to use drought tolerant plants and trees (see drought tolerance for individual varieties in “Plants” - main menu). Lastly you may want to consult your landscaper about low volume irrigation which can be used “as needed” (year round) for all landscape plants. We should not be afraid to beautify our home and community. Furthermore, we can be smart and educated in the area of water conservation to help make the right decisions.

I recently moved to the Fort Myers area. I had a landscape business in another state. Can I make purchases from you? Yes! If you are in the process of setting up your business and are acquiring an occupational license we will work with you.

As a homeowner, who can answer my questions about plant characteristics, pests or diseases?
Unfortunately we cannot communicate directly with you. Please refer to our descriptions and pictures in “Plants” (Main Menu). Also you may want to have a look at current and pertinent plant information in “Articles”. Further, you can visit our recommended websites in “Links” for detailed plant specifics. If you need further assistance please consult your horticultural professional or the Lee County Extension Office at (239) 461-7504.

What plants, palms or trees do well in this area?
Please refer to the zone maps on the “Plants” page for cold hardiness. Lee County encompasses zones 10a and 10b so be sure what area of the county you fall into. Remember that coastal areas are warmer in winter than inland locations but salt spray can damage certain plants. Refer to the characteristics of individual species in “Plants” concerning height, growth, salt tolerance, etc. If you need more detail you may visit our suggested websites in “Links” (Main Menu).

Can our Homeowner/Condo. Association make purchases from your nursery?
Yes, as long as the landscape professional or maintenance department for the Association is the involved party. Sorry we cannot sell to individual unit owners, homeowners or the board of directors.
